COLUMBIA, S.C. –South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce President and CEO Sara Hazzard today released the following statement applauding the passage of the Small Business Tax Cut of 2026 (S. 688):
“When small business wins, we all win. They enrich our communities, create jobs, and make products that are uniquely South Carolina. In passing small business tax relief – an SCMC priority – legislators, with critical support from leadership, delivered small business owners with a victory to celebrate. By reducing the burden of the business personal property tax and unnecessary paperwork, the legislation frees up time and resources for owners to invest in their employees and operations. When entrepreneurs see this, it emboldens them to take the risk to build and succeed.”
In February, SCMC led 24 local Chambers of Commerce in sending a letter of unified support for the bill.
