(Columbia, SC) – South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) President & CEO Sara Hazzard released the following statement on the General Assembly passing tort reform:

“When certainty, fairness and goodness are anchors of our civil justice system, families, businesses and communities thrive.

Working hand-in-hand with Senators, House members and Governor McMaster, manufacturers played a key role in passing meaningful reform to our legal system – something we can not only be proud of, but something we know helps those who need it the most. This bill is stronger than current law, builds on a decade of South Carolina economic expansion and lays a strong foundation for continued growth in the years to come.

We are grateful for the Senate and House leadership for their willingness to do right by their constituents, and we thank Governor McMaster for his leadership. Today is a day to celebrate a big step forward for South Carolina.”
