This week, we celebrated our HBCU STEM Program graduates.
The HBCU STEM Program provides students from South Carolina’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities with opportunities to engage with leading companies and business leaders in STEM fields. Through hands-on experiences and professional exposure, the program connects students to a variety of careers while helping them build the skills needed to thrive.
The 2026 graduating class was represented by students from across South Carolina’s HBCUs. Congratulations to:
Allen University: Bryon Bolden, Shawn Chisholm, Aniya Pendarvis, Jahmeik Scott, and Acsa Guerara
Benedict College: Donald Williams
Claflin University: Keva Wilson
Denmark Technical College: Jonathan Rolle
South Carolina State University: Ariana Bryant and Cristal Carroll
Voorhees University: Jameikah Smith and Samiya Stuart
Many of these graduates are already in the process of stepping into their careers. Jameikah Smith of Voorhees University will be working with Ernst & Young in the Bahamas. Cristal Carroll of South Carolina State University is joining the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Program as an Operations Manager. And Shawn Chisholm of Allen University will be teaching biology and serving as an assistant coach at Keenan High School.
Since its inception in 2017, the program has supported more than 278 students from South Carolina’s four-year HBCU institutions: Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, Clinton College, Denmark Technical College, Morris College, and Voorhees University.
