HBCU STEM Spotlight: Cristal Caroll
Cristal Caroll, a senior physics major at South Carolina State University, is the latest success story from our HBCU STEM Program.
The HBCU STEM Program provides students from South Carolina’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities with opportunities to engage with leading companies and business leaders in STEM fields. Through hands-on experiences and professional exposure, the program connects students to a variety of careers while helping them build the skills needed to thrive.
Cristal, who participated in the HBCU STEM Program for the past two years, will soon serve as a project consultant with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, which helps individuals with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. In this role, she will work with the director of facilities to support departmental restructuring efforts, enhance the agency’s SharePoint site, and contribute to other operational projects.
Since its inception in 2017, the program has supported more than 278 students from South Carolina’s four-year HBCU institutions: Allen University, Benedict College, Claflin University, Clinton College, Denmark Technical College, Morris College, and Voorhees University.
