This week on Member Monday, we’re highlighting JBE, a family-owned company that has called Hartsville home since 1982.
For more than 40 years, JBE has supported manufacturers across South Carolina by providing contract manufacturing, supplier management, warehousing, logistics, and production support. The company serves customers in the automotive, aerospace, paper, recreational, and electrical industries and has built its business by adapting to each customer’s unique operational needs.
“We don’t approach every opportunity with a predetermined solution. We first work to understand the customer’s capacity constraints, labor challenges, quality requirements, supply chain risks, and communication needs. We then build a structured solution around those conditions,” said JBE.
That customer-first approach has helped JBE grow alongside South Carolina’s manufacturing industry. The company says the state’s strong manufacturing environment, access to major transportation corridors, and proximity to the Port of Charleston have all contributed to its success. Just as important have been the relationships it has built over the years.
“We’ve benefited from relationships with customers, employees, supplier diversity organizations, economic development partners, and manufacturing groups such as SCMC. These organizations help companies build relationships, understand changes affecting the manufacturing community, and identify opportunities to strengthen South Carolina’s industrial base,” said JBE.
As a minority-owned and HUBZone-certified company – a federal designation that promotes business investment and job creation in historically underserved communities – JBE also helps customers meet supplier diversity goals while creating opportunities for people in the Hartsville area to develop skills in manufacturing, quality, logistics, warehousing, and leadership. The company takes pride in helping customers keep manufacturing work in South Carolina rather than moving it elsewhere.
Looking ahead, JBE sees growing opportunities to support manufacturers as investment continues across the state. The company is focused on expanding its role in contract manufacturing, supplier management, new product launches, warehousing, and production support while continuing to build long-term partnerships with its customers.
“Our objective is not simply to add more work. We want to build long-term programs where JBE can reduce pressure on the customer’s operation, provide visibility into performance, and create sustainable manufacturing opportunities in South Carolina,” said JBE.
